Camp Ida is overseen by the following Board of Directors –
Chairman – Jerrod Hammond
Jerrod Hammond currently serves as the associate Minister & one of the elders at the Mt.Vernon church of Christ. He graduated from the Brown Trail School of Preaching in June of 2023. Jerrod has been married to Brandi Hammond for almost 20 years and has two children, Jerrilyn, and Jessy Lee. Jerrilyn is married to Cason Meyer.
Treasurer – Jeff Whatley
Jeff is a 1995 Graduate of Northwest Texas Community College and a 2011 graduate of the Southwest School of Bible Studies. In 2012 the family began serving as Houseparent’s at the Southern Christian Children’s Home. In 2018 they moved back to Texas and resumed full-time ministry. He currently serves as Minister of Education: Youth & Family with the North Jefferson church of Christ. Jeff has been married to Carrie for 25 years. They have one son, Davin.
Secretary – Jeff Baum
Jeff has been active with Camp Ida for many years, first as a camper and currently as a counselor and teacher since 2017. He is a 2023 graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler with a bachelors in Civil Engineering and is currently pursuing a masters in Engineering Leadership. Jeff has been married to his wife Ashton, who has joined in the efforts of Camp Ida, since 2021. They currently live in Tyler, Texas, where they worship with the Broadway church of Christ and help lead the College and Young Professionals group.
Board Member – Daniel McCary
Daniel works at Priefert as a production specialist and cnc programmer. He graduated from Texas A&M Commerce with a bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering Technology in 2003. He has attended camp for many years as a counselor and co-nurse with his wife Keely and daughters Elora (16) and Avonlea (10).
Board Member – Jon McCormack
Jon is the minister for the Curry Street church of Christ in West Plains, MO and is a graduate of the Southwest School of Biblical Studies. He has served over 20 years in local ministry. Jon also works for the Manna Project. He is married to Holly and they have three children: Lucy, Emma, and Noah.
Board Member – Preston McElyea
Preston McElyea serves as one of the ministers for the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon, TX. He is a 2021 graduate of the Brown Trail School of Preaching and has been with the congregation in Mt. Vernon since that time. In addition to his work in Mt. Vernon, Preston works with Camp Ida, the Home of Recovery and Restoration, the Lamb’s Academy of Biblical Studies, and the STEP program at the Brown Trail School of Preaching. Preston and his wife, Autumn, have been married for 4 years and have a 1 year old daughter named Rosalind.
Camp Director – Daniel Britton
Daniel Britton has been serving as the Camp Director since March of 2022. He graduated from OSU in 2007 and has been married to his wife April since 2008. Together they have 2 fun, loving children; Kyndall (13) and Cooper (10). Daniel worships and works with the Cass County church of Christ that meets in Bloomburg, TX. He currently works for the TX Dept. of Transportation as a Land Survey Specialist.
